Xin Yang & Haiyang Zhu: Virginia Tech murder of Xin Yang by Haiyang Zhu

The murder of Xin Yang at Virginia Tech by a suspected assailant, Haiyang Zhu, has shocked everyone.

Xin Yang, a graduate student from China, was decapitated with a kitchen knife. Xin Yang was cut in a campus café of Virginia Tech. The suspected killer is another graduate student who knew Xin Yang. Xin Yang, 22, died on Wed. Jan 21.Xin Yang came to the US from Beijing because she wanted to study accounting.

Xin Yang was supposedly murdered by Haiyang Zhu, of Ningbo, China. Haiyang Zhu was charged with first degree murder and detained without bond in Montgomery County Jail. Haiyang Zhu was a Ph.D. student in agricultural and applied economics. Police have no motives for the attack. Eye witnesses at the café said Haiyang Zhu and Xin Yang were not fighting before the attack.

Jan 21 Virginia Tech murder Haiyang Zhu:

A new Virginia Tech murder occurred on Jan 21 2009. A female student was killed in this Virginia Tech murder. This is the first Virginia Tech murder since 2007. A female student was fatally stabbed on Wed night, Jan 21.

This Virginia Tech murder suspect, Haiyang Zhu, 25, was detained by police at 7:10 pm. Haiyang Zhu was charged with first degree murder and held without bond. The victim’s identity was not released. Police want to notify the next of kin.

The students on campus were notifies by an electronic warning system. About 1 hour later, the students were notified again to pass the message that they could resume their normal activities.

In 2007, Seung-Hui Choo killed 32 lives in Virginia Tech before committing suicide in April 2007.
