World Naked Bike Ride 2009 was organized on Saturday, June 13. The objective of the Naked Bike Ride was to protest against dependency on oil. The bicycle is used to promote it as an alternative transport that is green and eco-friendly.

In Boulder, local police stood guard to enforce the law of no frontal nudity. If a rider got ticketed for indecent exposure, s/he has to attend a court hearing. If the person is convicted, s/he has to register as a sex offender. Everyone in the Boulder Naked Bike Ride 2009 complied with the law. Nobody was ticketed for indecent exposure.

According to the authorities, they had to enforce the law after World Naked Bike Ride 2008 brought complaints from the community about the nudity.

Some bikers were unhappy. They claimed the World Naked Bike Ride lost its true essence as they were now semi-naked. A woman biker said nudity brought the strongest message while being semi-naked was not that effective.
