Wilputte “Lan” Sherwood, a former Roman Catholic priest in Phoenix, was arrested outside a Catholic church in San Francisco on Sunday, Nov. 16. Wilputte Sherwood was arrested for violations like parole violation and failing to register as a sex offender. Wilputte Sherwood left prison on 2003 and he disappeared in 2005.

Sherwood has to be extradited to Arizona to face charges of failure to register as a sex offender. Wilputte Sherwood had served in 4 parishes in the Phoenix diocese before he was suspended from the priesthood after his conviction in 1993. Sherwood had served his 10 year sentence for sexual contact with a minor.
