William L. Smith, University of Minnesota coach Tubby Smith’s nephew, was fatally stabbed. William L. Smith was killed on early Sunday morning. There was a fight between William L. Smith and someone else.

A newspaper reported Smith suffered a chest wound and died at 2:45 am. Smith was a student at Becker College in Worchester, Massachusetts. This was really tragic because William Smith was very new in the area. Smith transferred from Shepherd University in West Virginia a few weeks ago.

Police said there was a fight in an apartment off campus. The fight was not contained and continued outside on the street. William Smith was due to try out for both the football and basketball teams. Police recovered a murder weapon but have yet to arrest anyone.
