Will Richard Cooey be saved?

Richard Cooey, sentenced to death, has a reason to argue for clemency. The lawyers for Richard Cooey have asked the prison to reconsider. The Ohio Paraole Board has planned a clemency hearing to decide if Ricahrd Cooey’s death penbalty could be commuted.

Richard Cooey is 5 feet and 7 inches tall and weighs 267 pounds. Ricahrd Cooey was sentenced to death years ago. Now, he claims that executioners will face trouble locating his veins. Richard Cooey also said that his overweight body could reduce the effectiveness of the lethal injection drugs.

The background of the story:

Richard Coey was 19 in 1986. Richard Coey abducted, tortured, beaten, raped and murdered by strangulation; two University students. Wendy Jo Offredo, 21, and Dawn McCreery, 20, were from the University of Akron. The bodies of Wendy Jo Offredo and Dawn McCreery were found behind Rolling Acres Mall, in a field.
