Will Mark McGwire make his comeback?
By Clarencia Cynrae on September 10th, 2008In an interview wth a paper, Mark McGwire claimed that he can still hit the ball and play professionally despite having retired in 2001.
McGwire said he worked out twice daily and maintained his weight at 245 pounds. McGwire is a free agent as he is not attached to any team yet. There is a small rumor that Billy Beane, of the A’s, might ask McGwire to fill in an opening in 2009.
An unpleasant fact nagging in the background is that in 1998, a reporter noticed a bottle of androstenedione in McGwire’s locker. Androstenedione is a type of pre-steroid performance enhancer. McGwire has never tested positive for steroids nor admitted to using them. After he retired in 2001, he refused to become publicly involved in baseball again.
