Kelle Lee Jarka, of Riverside County, was convicted or killing his wife, Isabelle Jarka. Mrs Jarka died in April 2008.
Mr Jarka was sentenced to life in prison, without possibility of parole. Jarka’s alleged motive was $1.3 million from insurance policies on Isabelle Jarka.
Kelle Jarka had many debts and the prosecution alleged he killed his wife to collect on her insurance. Mr Jarka had bought life insurance policies on Isabelle several weeks before she died.
Jarka was convicted in September 2009 and sentenced on November 6. Kelle Lee Jarka was thought to have killed his wife for financial gain. The Jarkas had been married for 20 years.
Iabelle Jarka was bludgeoned to death. The murder weapon was never found. There was no direct evidence to implicate Kelle Lee Jarka. The jury was convinced after hearing about the circumstantial evidence.
Mr Jarka’s supporters wish to raise funds to launch an appeal. They think that the judge was very harsh to send him to life in prison without parole as there was no evidence linking Jarka to the crime.
Mr Jarka has always maintained his innocence.
