Wesley Snipes sentenced
By Angie on April 24th, 2008Wesley Snipes received 3 years jail for tax evasion convictions. It was the maximum sentence that could be imposed for tax evasion charges. Although Wesley Snipes got his celebrity friends - Denzel Washington and Woody Harrleson to write letters of character witness for him, it failed to persuade the judge.
The judge said Wesley Snipes could surrender anytime when he was ready. Wesley Snipes lived in New Jersey but this trial was in Florida. The judge said he could surrender close to his New Jersey home. That might mean that when Wesley Snipes was imprisoned, he would be incarcerated near his home. His family would find it more convenient to visit him.
Wesley Snipes did not have to pay a fine, although the government claimed that he owed $2.7 million in taxes.

A jail full of males is bad for another male inmate. Enough said.
