Mindy Daffern, 46, a North Texas store clerk, went missing on Friday, August 15, 2008. Surveillance footage from a camera showed that hse was confronted by a man while she was working at her family’s store in Scotland, North Texas.

The man was Wallace Bowman Jr., of Bowie. Wallace Bowman, 30, was questioned and he led police to Mindy Daffern’s body. Wallace Bowman will be charged with capital murder.

Wallace Bowman was sentenced to probation in 1996 for burglary of a building. One year later, Bowman became a sex offender who was convicted of sexual assault in 1997. He served 7 years in prison. Wallace Bowman was required to register as a sex offender in 2004 after he was released. He failed to do so. Wallace Bowman Jr. was detained in Archer County Jail on a bond of $3 million.
