Vicki Walker, a woman in New Zealand, was fired after she used capital letters in an email to her colleagues. Vicki Walker used red colored font for her laters in Caps. Walker gave the impression she was confrontational. Walker’s company fired her without giving her notice. Walker lost her job in December 2007.

Walker was faulted for her email on instructions to fill out forms. After she lost her job, Walker sad she had to take out a second mortgage on her home to hep pay her bills. Walker claimed she was in financial difficulties for 2 years.

Walker filed a wrongful termination lawsuit against her former company and she was awarded $17,000 for lost wages and unspecified harm. Walker said she will appeal to New Zealand’s Employment Relations Authority for more compensation.
