Mackay has MS, multiple sclerosis. Mackay backs the campaign to legalise assisted suicide. This campaign was launched by independent MSP Margo Macdonald. Mackay said she had no dignity left. Mackay compared her situation to that of a pet. Mackay said if she were a pet, she would have been put down long ago.
