Troopergate: Sarah Palin, Todd Palin, Walter Monegan, Mike Wooten, Stephen Branchflower

Troopergate’s latest update:

Sarah Palin is accused of abusing her power as the Governor of Alaska. State law makers in Anchorage, Alaska, voted to subpoena her husband, Todd Palin. GOP State Senator Charlie Higgins, who is representative for Wasilla, changed the predicted course of delay to one of forwarding and fast tracking. Republicans had tried to delay the investigation until after the Presidential elections in Nov. 4.

The GOP Senate committee took action when investigator Stephen Branchflower asked them to. Branchflower is in charge of gathering facts and evidence on whether Palin abused her position by firing Walt Monegan, Alaska’s director of public safety. This investigation was dubbed as Troopergate. Monegan’s department was in charge of Alaska’s state troopers. Mike Wooten was Sarah Palin’s ex brother in law. Wooten had a nasty divorce from Palin’s sister. Critics accuse Sarah Palin of firing Walt Monegan because he refused to fire Mike Wooten at Palin’s behest. Critics allege that the Heath and Palin families were good at getting even. Sarah Palin denied personal involvement in the dismissal of Walter Monegan. Palin claimed Monegan was dismissed due to a disagreement in budget.

Sarah Palin’s private lawyer is Thomas Van Flein. Stephen Branchflower listed thirteen names to be subpoenaed to give their testimonies. Branchflower said he wants to interview Gov. Palin but he stopped short at issuing her a subpoena because it would look bad. Imagine the Governor being subpoenaed or the future Vice President being subpoenaed. Walter Monegan volunteered to sit for his interview. He said he received emails and communication complaining about the behavior of Mike Wooten from Sarah Palin, Todd Palin and the Palin administration. It was unsaid but the message was clear about what was expected.
