Tracey Davis, 40, and Mark Coghill, 45, were a dating couple. Davis and Coghill were celebrating his birthday when she became unhappy. Davis was upset she was not getting pregnant. Davis asked Coghill for a kiss and then she bit his tongue off.

About one third of Coghill’s tongue was bitten off by Davis. Tracey Davis then called police. Davis was surprised when she was arrested.

Coghill was treated in hospital but his tongue was not reattached because of the fear of infection. Coghill said he lost his taste buds after the incident. Coghill said he lost his job, could not speak properly and could not differentiate different types of food in his mouth.
