Tommy Lee Poindexter, Nathan Walker: Poindexter, Walker charged with rape

By Clarencia Cynrae on August 26th, 2009

Tommy Lee Poindexter, 20, and Nathan Walker, 18, are in court facing charges of sexual battery, burglary, kidnapping, grand theft and promoting sexual performance of a child.

Poindexter and Walker were accused of raping a woman, then 35 years old on June 19, in 2007, in her apartment in West Palm Beach, Florida. The woman’s young son, then 12 years old, was forced to perform sex acts with his mother.

A third teen, Jakaris Taylor, now 17, has to stand trial in September 2009.

A fourth male, Avion Lawson, who was 14 in 2007, pleaded guilty and has turned into a witness for the prosecution. All suspects are tried as adults although they were teens when they allegedly committed the crime in 2007.

The masked suspects were armed with guns and threatened the victims. Before leaving, the suspects doused the woman and her son in cleaning agents like nail polish remover and vinegar. The suspects wanted to set the victims on fire but they couldn’t find a lighter.

The woman and her son walked out a mile to a hospital because the suspects had stolen their cell phones and ripped out the phones on the land line.

Police said they were searching for another 6 males who participated in the attacks.

Poindexter’s lawyer admitted he raped the woman and there was DNA evidence. However, she said Poindexter did not participate in the other attacks committed by various males.

Walker’s attorney also denied he had a hand in all the attacks on the woman. The lawyers tried to deflect blame for the multiple rapes.
