Updated Aug 27 2009 – Edward W Edwards, 76, told investigators he had consensual sex with Kelly Drew, 19. Edwards claimed Kelly Drew, Tim Hack, and himself had a drinking session, after which, Drew agreed to have consensual sex with him.

Edwards said Hack quarreled with a group of men who stomped him to death. Drew screamed and they stomped her dead too. Edwards said he did not interfere because he feared trouble would befall him.

Edwards was in a wheel chair with an oxygen tank attached. His health was said to be in bad shape.

Tim Hack and Kelly Drew were both 19 and sweethearts back in 1980. On August 9, 1980, Hack and Drew attended a wedding reception and then disappeared from their town near Milwaukee. In October 1980, Hack and Drew’s bodies were found.

Tim Hack was stabbed. Kelly Drew was strangled.

Edward W Edwards, now 76, was arrested in Kentucky, and charged with the murders of Tim Hack and Kelly Drew.

Edward Edwards was questioned by detectives in 1980. He and his family left town in September 1980. In June 2009, detectives interviewed Edwards in Louisville and took his DNA. By July, Edwards’ DNA was conformed to be matching to semen found on Kelly Drew’s pants.

Tim hack’s father, 70, was glad the suspect has been caught. Kelly Drew’s mother, Norma Walker, now 71, said she felt her old wounds were reopened by the latest development.
