Thurl Bailey opened RNC with prayer for Hurricane Gustav’s victims

On Monday, Sep. 1, the Republican National Convention was opened by ex Jazz star Thurl Bailey. Thurl Bailey opened with a prayer for the victims of Hurricane Gustav.

Thurl Bailey, belongs to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Thurl Bailey played center for the Jazz until his retirement in 1999. The RNC had almost all white audience, with only a handful of blacks. John McCain and his campaign invited Thurl Bailey to make a statement or balance the equation.
