Thomas Treshawn Ivey: Ivey executed for two murders
By Therese Lisieux on May 8th, 2009Thomas Treshawn Ivey, of Alabama, was convicted of two murders in SC. Ivey was sentenced to death. On Friday, May 8, Ivey was executed by lethal injection in Columbia. Ivey, 34, did not make any final statement.
Ivey was convicted in 1995. Ivey had killed a businessman in SC and a police sergeant in Orangeburg. Tommy Harrison, 38, the sergeant, was fatally shot by Ivey in 1993. Ivey shot Harrison after trying to pass a bed check.
On Friday, before Ivey was scheduled for execution, he removed a razor blade from a disposable shaving blade holder and he cut himself. Ivey did not get life threatening wounds. Officers strapped Ivey to a chair and waited until it was time for his execution. Ivey was then led to the execution chamber and strapped to the chair.
Ivey was the 42nd person to be executed in SC since 1976. Ivey was the 283rd person to be executed in US.
