The Temptations: The Temptations Producer, Norman Whitfield, died

The Temptations/ Motown producer, Norman Whitfield, has died. The Temptations’ Norman Whitfield suffered from diabetes and ill health.

Norman Whitfield died at the age of 65. It was reported Whitfield passed away on Sept. 16. Whitfield was an original creator of the Motown sound in 1960s. Norman Whitfield worked as the main producer for The Temptations from 1966 – 1974. Whitfield wrote hits for Marvin Gaye, Gladys Knight and The Pips. In 2005, Norman Whitfield was placed under house arrest because he failed to report royalty income. Whitfield escaped imprisonment because of his poor health.
