The Last Sitting: Bert Stern sues Michael Weiss & Don Perry
By Clarencia Cynrae on September 26th, 2008Bert Stern, the photographer who took the last iconic photos of Marilyn Monroe before her death, has sued two men. Bert Stern claimed the men wrongfully possessed five images from this “last sitting” photo session that was done before Monroe died in 1962.
Bert Stern’s lawyer, Stephen Weingrad, said each photo is worth about $100,000. Bert Stern has sued Michael Weiss (of Mount Kisco, NY) and Don Penny (of Briarcliff Manor, NY). The men had probably got them when Eros Magazine licensed and used the negatives to publish the photos. Weiss and Penny brought two original prints for Bert Stern to authenticate. The men also had a photocopy of seven images from Monroe’s last sitting.
In 2007, Lindsay Lohan modeled Marilyn Monroe’s The Last Sitting. The Lohan collection was popular.
