Dith Pran, 65, died of pancreatic cancer. He was the famous Cambodian who coined the term, “The Killing Fields”, to describe Pol Pot’s Khmer Rouge in 1979. Two million out of the seven million Cambodians were killed. All the educated were killed to snuff out dissent. Dith Pran pretended to be illiterate until he escaped from Cambodia. He emigrated to the US and found work as a photographer.
