Johnny Carter, a singer with The Dells and The Flamingos, has died. Johnny Carter died at the age of 75. The announcement was made on Saturday, Aug 22.

Johnny Carter was inducted into the US Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. The Dells performed a public concert in Chicago to celebrate this event.

Johnny Carter’s first band group was also honored with an induction into the Hall of Fame in 2000. The Flamingos were inducted in 2000.

The Dells’ story was made into a film entitled “The Five Heartbeats”. This movie was released in 1991.
