Thanos Papalexis: Thanos Papalexis convicted of murder
By Clarencia Cynrae on September 9th, 2009Thanos Papalexis, a rich Brit, has been convicted of murder. Papalexis admitted murdering a caretaker of a property because the man, Charalambos Christodoulides, 55, refused to move out and leave the property to be sold.
Christodoulides was killed at the warehouse property in Kilburn, London, in March 2000. Papalexis was desperate to sell the warehouse because he needed money to save his business.
Christodoulides had lived alone at the warehouse and acted mostly as its caretaker. Papalexis allegedly hired two assassins, Ylli Xhelo, 35, and Robert Baxhija, 29, to kill Christodoulides. Xhelo and Baxhija were two Albanian employees who had worked for Papalexis.
Papalexis lost the property sale and he had huge debts at around 8 million pounds. Papalexis then migrated to the US. Police in London and UK continued to work on the case to gather evidence and found DNA and cell phone calls. Papalexis, Xhelo and Baxhija had left behind a trail of evidence that placed them at the scene of the murder.
Papalexis’ former girlfriend, Rebecca DeFalco, an alleged prostitute, said he had confessed to her about killing someone in the UK. DeFalco said Papalexis admitted his role in a murder when he talked to her in 2004.
