Teena Marie wins Pioneer Award

Teena Marie, who called herself “Ivory Queen of Soul”, will receive a Pioneer Award from the Rhythm & Blues Foundation on Tuesday, Sept. 9. Teena marie is actually Mary Christine Brockert, 52.

Other Award nominees included Chaka Khan, Kool & The Gang, Bill Withers, The Whispers, The Funk Brothers, Donny Hathaway, Sugar Pie DeSanto and Al Bell.
