Nicholas Hughes, the son of Sylvia Plath, has committed suicide. Hughes had suffered from depression for a long time. Plath was a famous writer who committed suicide on Feb 11, 1963. Nick’s sister, Frieda Hughes, announced that Nicholas Hughes died on March 16.

Nicholas Hughes was a professor of fisheries and ocean sciences. Hughes taught at the University of Alaska in Fairbanks. Later, Hughes quit his job to take up pottery. Nicholas Hughes’ father was Ted Hughes, a famous poet. Ted Hughes left Sylvia Plath before Nicholas was 1 year old. Ted fell for Assia Wevill,the wife of another poet.
