The Sweetest Day is here again. The Sweetest Day is celebrated on the third Saturday of October. In 2009, the Sweetest Day falls on October 17.

The Sweetest Day sounds like Valentine’s Day. The Sweetest Day honors people who are less privileged as they are the recipients of gifts of kindness on this special day.

The homeless, struggling, orphans and needy may receive frivolous gifts to cheer them up. Traditional presents given away on the Sweetest Day include candy, confectionery, flowers and cards.

Although the Sweetest Day is meant to be for the less privileged, people have included their family members, friends and relatives in the celebrations.

The Sweetest Day is usually celebrated in Ohio, California, Florida, Illinois and Michigan.
