Susan LeFevre to be tried for 1976 escape
Susan LeFevre, shifted to California and changed her identity to Maria Walsh. Susan LeFevre was actually an escaped convict from a Michigan prison in 1976. LeFevre was convicted of selling heroin and she served one year of prison when she broke out of prison by climbing over a barbed wire fence. Susan LeFevre became Maria Walsh, got married and had 3 kids in San Diego.
U.S. Marshals had a tip that Maria Walsh, of California, was actually Susan LeFevre. Fingerprints confirmed her double identity. Maria Walsh was arrested in April 2008. LeFevre was sent back to Michigan to continue serving the remainder of her 10 year prison sentence. For her escape, Susan LeFevre has to face a trial on that escape charge. LeFevre waived her right to a preliminary hearing to quicken the process and move it faster to trial.
LeFevre’s lawyer, William Swor, said that he would work to try to get her original 10 year drug sentence thrown out because he believed that the sentencing was unexpected for 19 year old Susan LeFevre when she agreed to plead guilty at that time.
