Susan Hutchison vs KIRO-TV: Hutchinson KIRO-TV lawsuit records unsealed

Updated August 7 – Susan Hutchison had filed a lawsuit in 2003 against KIRO-TV, who was her former employer. Several newspapers have sought the release of the sealed records from Hutchison’s 2003 lawsuit. King County Superior Court Judge Timothy Bradshaw has agreed to unseal almost all the records in Hutchison’s case.
Hutchison had sued KIRO-TV for age discrimination and race discrimination. The TV station hired a younger news anchor and she was of Asian-American origin.
Susan Hutchison said she could not discuss her case as she had signed a confidentiality agreement with KIRO-TV in 2005. Hutchison and KIRO-TV made a private settlement.
Other candidates running for County Executive are King County Council members Dow Constantine and Larry Phillips, state Rep. Ross Hunter and state Sen. Fred Jarrett.

Hutchison has served as the executive director for the Charles Simonyi Fund for Arts and Sciences since 2003. Hutchison is the chairperson for the Seattle Symphony board of directors. She also sits on the board of several nonprofit organizations.
Ron Sims, the incumbent King County executive, has said he will resign if the US Senate confirms his nomination for deputy secretary of housing and urban development.
