Martha Sharp Crawford von Bülow (September 1, 1932 – December 6, 2008), was more popularly known as Sunny von Bülow. Sunny von Bulow became famous and made her mark in history when she was portrayed as a victim of possibly attempted murder.

In 1980, as Sunny von Bülow was discovered unresponsive on her bathroom floor in Newport, Rhode Island. as Sunny von Bülow failed to regain consciousness in hospital and remained in a vegetative, comatose state for 28 years until her death.

Sunny von Bülow’s husband, Claus von Bulow, was suspected for attempted murder by insulin overdose. The first trial found him guilty but this conviction was overturned. Claus von Bulow’s second trial found him not guilty.

Glenn Close acted as Sunny von Bulow and Jeremy Irons as Claus von Bulow, in the movie, “Reversal of Fortune”, made in 1990. The biopic “Reversal of Fortune” was based on a book by Alan Dershowitz, the law professor who defended Claus von Bulow.
