Sufiah Yusof/ Shilpa Lee’s ex-husband, Jonathan Marshall was interviewed
By Clarencia Cynrae on April 2nd, 2008Jonathan Marshall & Sufiah Yusof were married in 2004 but they divorced 13 months later. The newspaper, Daily Telegraph, located him and told him news about Sufiah working as a sex worker called Shilpa Lee. Jonathan said he felt sad and shocked. He had no contact with Sufiah after 8 months of supporting her after their split. He works in Saudi Arabia as a lawyer in a City firm. He is now remarried and has 2 kids.
What he said is summarized below.
Jonathan said that Sufiah had deviated from Islam. She had the capacity to distinguish what she should do. She refused to take the offer to support her through university and another offer to sell her story of her childhood. Briefly his opinions told Sufiah should be responsible.

Please be sensitive in Islam even a prostitude could go to heaven but not proud people who thinks you are Islamic. Muslims are human and prostitution is there because man enkoy it. Let God determine her life cause that’s her choice right. Blame it on her phidophile father.

I should say thank to msian citizen 4 their concern about sufiah. its not easy nowadays to see Muslim around the world to b sensitive with their religion’s issue, muslim is put into hatred and discriminated by the world -not saying that the problem is due to muslim’s attitude itself…but realizing the fact that the westerners unable to realize the imporatance of islam not only as a religion but also the way of life. Islam tells us how to dress, speak, behave the way it should be, even marriage, business and entrepeneurship, governance etc. are well outlined by God via His messenger Muhammad S.A.W.
Regarding the prostitute counts n status in malaysia, I knew that Msian gov are putting best effort to deal wit it, n i should say that Sufiah’s story shouldnt b exagerated by the authorities. Enough if we show our concern as Muslim. Please b aware, that ONE of the sign of Hari Kiamat(The Atonement/JUdgement Day) is when Muslim bcome insensitive, irresponsive towards religious-threateneing-issues and when this happen nobody would care about islam anymore.

So what’s your take on Muslims in Malaysia drinking and keeping dogs as pets and feeding their wife and children on income derived from pigs?
And that little gambling colony up in the highlands… the Golden (drunken) triangle in KL… the big big brewery along the highway…how many muslims work there?
The hundreds of illegitimate babies that have died because their parents couldn’t take the shame and had to dispose of them in the dumpster with their umbillical cord still attached… the work of non muslims? hardly…
How responsive have you been with that? or does that not threaten the religion?

Emma, notice how people like you twist the facts and call a righteous, moral, wonderful man like Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him, such vile names like a pedo when he absolutely was not.
First off, there was no pedofilia, as they were married, and everything was public about it. Prophet Muhammad did marry a 9 year old, and he and his wife consummated the marriage AFTER she reached puberty. Puberty is the age that a Muslim -both men and women- are considered to be adults.
Also, keep in mind it was 1,400 years ago- it was culture back then to get married young, and people (including non-Muslims) at the time didn’t have a problem with it. The 9 year old was even engaged before that to another man, but the engagement was broken off because the fiancée was a non-Muslim; getting married young was culture back then.
Even the Virgin Mary had Jesus when she was around the age of 13…people back then lived shorter lives and got married at younger ages, and this isn’t so much the case anymore.
And you know what? People can use facts and turn it around to make ANYTHING sound twisted. For example, I saw a bumper sticker once reading: “Mary was a un-married, pregnant teenager” …see how they took the example of such a pious, believing woman and made her sound like a promiscuous slut? See how that is insulting and twisting the facts, even though they claim to be just stating them?
Now let’s put our assumptions aside and look at Prophet Muhammad’s wife’s point of view, shall we? She loved her husband dearly, and in fact she is the source of many of the hadith (stories of the Prophet Muhammad) that we have today, as she worked to spread the message of Islam for the rest of her life. She spoke of how wonderful of a husband he was, and how much she loved him.
