I do know Malays who are brilliant back in school. But guess what the malaysian education system, rewards mediocrasy and drives the gifted (of any race) mad with boredom. Really this was sad and laced racism at the beginning. It is still the same now. Ah, the Malaysian government so really wants a Malay prodigy that it is willing to bend over backwards to claim a British citizen who is only half Malay as it own.
