Three tornadoes ravaged central and southeast Virginia on Monday, April 28, 2008. Homes and cars were destrooyed. More than 200 people were injured. Residents outside Norfolk were forced to evacuate their homes. They went to nearby shelters. Police closed roads because of the danger from downed power lines.
