Steven Tyler wants to quit Aerosmith because he wants to start his solo career. Other band members in Aerosmith are considering whether to forge ahead without Tyler or split up.
It looks like Aerosmith may not be celebrating their 40th anniversary next year in 2010.
Tyler fell off stage in August and Aerosmith was forced to cancel concerts in the US tour. Tyler has recovered and returned to stage performances in October. Tyler, 61, has said he wants to work on his own brand name.
Brad Whitford, the rhythm guitarist in Aerosmith, said the band hoped to continue by hiring a new lead singer.
Joe Perry, another band member in Aerosmith, said Tyler had not spoken to them after he fell off stage. Perry said Tyler did not talk to them about quitting but he had read the news that Tyler announced he was going solo.
Aerosmith first started their band in 1970. From 1970 to 2009, Aerosmith has released 14 albums and won many awards for their music. 2010 is supposed to be Aerosmith’s 40th anniversary.
