Steven Stanton underwent gender reassignment surgery in 2008 to become Susan Stanton. Stanton lost his job and marriage after becoming Susan Stanton.

Stanton’s life is featured in a documentary called “Her Name Was Steven”. This will be shown Saturday, March 13, at 8 pm and 11 pm, on CNN. Susan wants to tell her story because many people have a misunderstanding about gender reassignment. Susan said her identity is who she is right now, and not who she used to be.

Susan Stanton is divorced from her former wife. Stanton said she loves her former wife the same way Steven Stanton did. Stanton’s son loves her and calls her dad even after his surgery.
