Steve Fossett: Steve Fossett plane wreckage found?

The update said aerial sighting found plane wreckage which may belong to Steve Fossett’s plane. For various reasons, authorities could not reveal the location of the wreckage. The plane wreckage has yet to be positively identified as Steve Fossett’s plane.

Searchers had combed a 10 mile radius around the location where the hiker, Preston Morrow, had found some pilots’ ID cards. Peggy Fossett said she was aware of Preston Morrow’s discovery. Peggy Fossett expressed her gratitude to all involved in the search and recovery process. Authorities were reluctant to confirm if the plane wreckage belonged to Steve Fossett as they said many planes had crashed in the mountain terrain over the years. They want to positively identify the wreckage before making any announcement.

The plane wreckage has been identified as the plane piloted by Steve Fossett. The authorities have not said anything about finding human remains. (source)

Human remains have been found and the DNA has been collected. There was very little remains but there wa ssufficient for DNA to be collected.
