Stephen Flemmi, aka “The Rifleman”, an alleged mobster from New England, testified in court. Flemmi said he saw his colleague James “Whitey” Bulger strangle Debra Davis. Davis, 26, was Flemmi’s girlfriend.

Flemmi said he saw Bulger strangle Davis. Bulger then extracted her teeth to hinder identification.

Debra Davis’ family and two other families have sued for the wrongful deaths of Davis and two other people allegedly killed by Flemmi and Bulger. The men were FBI informants. The families are suing to claim that the FBI failed to stop the deaths of Davis and two other victims because the agency did not control Flemmi and Bulger.

The Justice Department and FBI claimed they were unaware Flemmi and Bulger had planned killing the 3 victims. They said they could not be held accountable for their informants’ murders.
