By Clarencia Cynrae on March 21st, 2009Stacey Ann Lannert, then 18 in 1990, fatally shot her father, Tom Lannert. Stacey Lannert told police her father has been sexually abusing her over the years. In 1992, Lannert was convicted of first degree murder and sentenced to life in prison.
The former governor of Missouri, Matt Blunt, commuted Lannert’s sentence to 20 years before he left office in Jan, 2009. Lannert had served 18 years. Lannert was released on Jan 16, 2009. For the remainder of her term, Lannert will be on parole, for about 18 months. Bob McCulloch, the prosecutor for St Louis County, said he opposed Lannert’s release.
During the trial, the prosecutor argued that Stacey Lannert killed her father to gain control of his finances.
