Shelly Saltman: Saltman, Evel Knievel, Krystal Kennedy-Knievel & FBI
By Clarencia Cynrae on October 7th, 2008*
Shelly Saltman (pictured here) was a former promoter of Evel Knievel. Shelly Saltman was beaten up by Knievel, with an aluminium base ball bat. Shelly Saltman wrote a book that did not flatter Evel Knievel. Shelly Salt made claims in the book about Knievel abusing his wife and kids. Shelly Saltman alleged that Knievel was a heavy drug user. Shelly Saltman was hospitalized for his injuries and Evel Knievel was jailed for 6 months for his assault on Saltman.

That was not the end of the case against Knievel. Evel Knievel was investigated by the FBI. The records on Knievel were made available after his death in Nov. 2007. The AP press obtained the records and read that FBI linked Knievel with violent crimes against rivals in the stunt jumping busieness. Associates of Knievel supposedly carried out the assaults. Evel Knievel denied he was involved to the FBI and the victims. Evel Knievel’s wife, Krystal Kennedy-Knievel, who was married to him in 1999, denied any knowledge of the FBI probe.
Bill Gill, a motocycle stuntman in the same line of business as Evel Knievel, said he had a confrontation with Knievel’s associates. Knievel apologized to him and denied that he had anything to do with Bob Gill’s encounter with a confrontation. Bob Gill would not describe the confrontation but said it fitted the typical cases described in the FBI file.
