Sharon Keller, the Texas judge who denied Michael Richard his last chance at appealing his death sentence, has been slammed. Sharon Keller was asked to let her court remain open for 20 minutes after 5 pm for Michael Richard’s lawyer to file a last minute appeal to delay his execution.

The Texas State Commission on Judicial Conduct is going to put Sharon Keller on trial. Sharon Keller was charged in Feb 2009, over her decision on September 25,2007. Ms Keller’s lawyer said there were other problems faced by Michael Richard’s lawyers. They allegedly missed out on some paperwork.

Michael Richard was killed by lethal injection at around 9 pm on the same day Sharon Keller rejected a request to extend the working hours of her court.

Before Michael Richard was executed, he had two trials, two direct appeals, two state habeas corpus proceedings and three federal habeas corpus hearings and motions.

Sharon Keller could lose her career over this case. Keller has been a strict judge and she has earned her nickname of “Sharon Killer”.
