Sharell Butler & James Medina charged for John Hopkins-Drago’s death (photo)
By Clarencia Cynrae on December 28th, 2008Sharell Butler, 15, of Poplar Street, the Bronx, NY, has been arrested. Butler is accused of murdering a man, John Hopkins-Drago. Butler allegedly stabbed Hopkins-Drago to death and stuffed him inside a plastic bag.
John Hopkins-Drago, 22, is of Edison Avenue. Hopkins-Drago’s body was found by the superintendent of an apartment building. Hopkins-Drago had multiple stab wounds o his head, torso and extremities. Hopkins-Drago was placed inside a plastic bag on a shopping cart and left next to garbage bags in an alley.
Sharell Butler has additional charges of second degree murder of a man, 24, during a home invasion in December in the Bronx. Police are investigating to discover if there are any connections with the two murders.
James Medina, 23, of Pelham Parkway South was the first person charged in the death of Hopkins-Drago. Median was arrested and charged with hindering prosecution and possession of marijuana. Median lives about 1 block away from where Hopkins-Drago was found dead. Police are investigating the death of Hopkins-Drago. Police said there may be some connections between Hopkins-Drago, Butler and Medina.
