Updated November 5 – Shannon Dedrick was found alive under her former babysitter’s bed. The babysitter, Susan Elizabeth Baker, has been arrested, along with her husband, James Arthur Baker and Shannon’s mother, Chrystina Lynn Mercer. Police said at this stage, they did not suspect Shannon’s father, James Russell Dedrick Jr, to be involved in the abduction or alleged kidnapping of Shannon.

Susan Elizabeth Baker is related to James Russell Dedrick Jr.

Susan Elizabeth Baker was convicted in 1987 of child assault. In 2000, Baker was questioned over a child’s disappearance in 1987.

In August 2009, Susan Baker wrote to Florida Governor Charlie Crist’s office, pleading for help to save the baby Shannon Lea Dedrick. Mrs Baker alleged the baby’s parents were unable to care for her.

What happened to Shannon Dedrick? She can’t walk yet at 7 months old, so someone may have taken her. Shannon Lea Dedrick, 7 months old, is now declared missing. Dedrick went missing from her home, on Saturday, October 31. Dedrick is 2 feet tall, and weighs 11 pounds. Baby Dedrick has brown hair and blue eyes. Dedrick’s home is in Chipley, Florida.
