Shani Moran Simmonds: Shani Moran-Simmonds Oldest Frozen Embryo (photos)

By Therese Lisieux on June 1st, 2009

Shani Moran Simmonds or Shani Moran-Simmonds was conceived 11 years ago in the summer of 1995. Moran-Simmonds was an embryo who was frozen and kept in storage as her mother tried numerous rounds of fertility treatments and implantation.

Shani Moran-Simmonds is one of the world’s oldest frozen embryos who became a baby. Debbie, the mother, had 18 years of treatment of her fallopian tubes, ectopic pregnancy and IVF. Shani was the result of one last attempt at having a baby. Colin, the father of Shani Moran-Simmonds, and his wife Debbie had forgotten about the frozen embryos they had until a bill came to remind them about their frozen embryos in storage.

After Shani was born, Debbie tried another 3 times to become pregnant with other frozen embryos but failed each time.
