By Angie on May 18th, 2008Shah Mohammad Nayeem was kidnapped by militants in Afghanistan in April 2008. Shah Mohammad Nayeem went missing from then onwards. Shah Mohammad Nayeem was rescued today on May 18, 2008.
Security forces in Afghanistan were responsible for snatching Shah Mohammad Nayeem back. Shah Mohammad Nayeem, 40, was kidnapped on April 21, 2008. Shah Mohammad Nayeem was kidnapped along with his co-worker, a Nepal citizen.
Shah Mohammad Nayeem and the Nepalese were in good health. Shah Mohammad Nayeem and the Nepalese were contract workers. Shah Mohammad Nayeem and the other man had to supply logistics to Afghan police training camps. Shah Mohammad Nayeem and the other guy were traveling in west Adraskan district when they were captured. Adraskan is the border with Iran.
Shah Mohammad Nayeem had a local Afghan driver. He was set free. Shah Mohammad Nayeem and the Nepalese were detained.
Shah Mohammad Nayeem is free to travel to Herat and then Kabul. Shah Mohammad Nayeem will then be fetched and helped back to India. Herat has information on Shah Mohammad Nayeem. The officials said Shah Mohammad Nayeem was undergoing medical checks.
Intelligence forces have discovered the loaction where Shah Mohammad Nayeem and the Nepal native were held in captivity. The officers raided the location almost immediately while the trail was fresh. The chief of the group that was responsible for the kidnap was arrested and detained. The other suspects and accomplices were being rounded up. The Afghan provincial intelligence chief Habibullah Habib gave this information.
It was suspected that Taliban militants were responsible behind the kidnap. Afghan official Sayed Ibrar Hashimi said that he did not believe any ransom was paid to free the Indian. The 55-year-old Nepalese was named as Gurong Karna Bahadur. Their release was due to the rescue of the intelligence agency, the National Directorate of Security.
Shah Mohammad Nayeem & Gurong Karna Bahadur were unharmed during their long captivity. Shah Mohammad Nayeem expressed his gratitude towards his native government and the Afghan government. Shah Mohammad Nayeem talked about the place where he was held. Shah Mohammad Nayeem denied that the Taliban was involved. Shah Mohammad Nayeem said that his location was in the mountains. Shah Mohammad Nayeem said that his captors conversed in Farsi. Shah Mohammad Nayeem said he did not think the Taliban were involved.
Shah Mohammad Nayeem’s family in India lives in Ikamba village near Mangalore Airport in Karnataka.
Shah Mohammad Nayeem observed all the correct rules and protocol while on Afghan soil. When he reached India safely, he told about his hardships in captivity. The terrorists gave him a hard time.
