Sgt. Steve Smith, of Kanawha County, East Bank, West Virginia, was fired for using a Taser on a pregnant teen and a firefighter. Sgt. Steve Smith was on probation before the incidents and he was an officer for less than 1 year. Candice White was the pregnant teen who was fired by Steve Smith’s Taser gun. Candice White’s mother is Steve Smith’s friend. Smith showed up at her home one day while she was sitting on her porch and Steve Smith played around with the Taser and fired it on her leg several times.

Steve Smith, in his defence, said Candice White had asked hime to use his Taser on her. Smith also tried to justify that the power setting was very low. A volunteer firefighter told the Kanawha County Town Council that Steve Smith used his taser gun on him to celebrate his (the firefighter’s) birthday. Steve Smith was fired for his use of the Taser gun for play.
