Seanie Nammock has a strange genetic condition. Nammock,13, from West London, has fibrodysplasia ossificans progressiva (FOP). FOP affects Nammock by turning her muscle and tendon into bone. Nammock will slowly lose movement of her limbs. Nammock’s arms have turned into bone and they are locked into a bent position at her waist.

Nammock has extra bone on her shoulders and she cannot move by reaching upwards. Nammock needs help in dressing and washing her hair. Nammock is sensitive and her body reacts to the tiniest injuries by forming bone.

Nammock was first diagnosed with FOP after an injury in 2008. At 13, Nammock is trying to be barve and get on with her life.

FOP has no cure right now but the gene that causes it has been isolated. A compound that stops the bone growth is currently undergoing testing in the UK.

Seanie Nammock’s mother is Maria Granaghan. Mrs Granaghan has two older daughters, Sarah, 27, and Sinead, 17. They do not show symptoms of FOP.
