Savana Redding was 13 in 2003. Redding was in eighth grade in Safford Middle School, in Tucson, Arizona. Redding was accused of being in possession of ibuprofen pills and being a distributor for the drug.

Redding was strip searched but nothing was found. Sanford has a zero tolerance policy for prescription drugs as well as over the counter medication.

Redding was strip searched by two female school staff. Redding, now 19, told how humiliated she felt. The American Civil Liberties Union has taken up Redding’s case and one of their lawyers is representing Savana Redding in her fight for justice.

This week, the US Supreme Court will rule on how the school officials should handle strip searches
