Sarah Palin Gaffe on Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac (video)
By Therese Lisieux on September 9th, 2008```
Sarah Palin said that Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac had "gotten too big and too expensive to the taxpayers." Palin's statement came before the Bush administration announced its plans to bail out the mortgage companies. Before the government buys Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, it does not click to say the two finance companies were "too expensive to the taxpayers."
Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac were helpful to small homeowners who needed mortgages. About 50% of all American home mortgages were held by jointly by Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. People who do not live with mortgages do not even know what Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac do for the nation.
