Sant’Anna di Stazzema was a Tuscan town. In 1944, Nazi soldiers gathered 560 civilians and massacred them in Sant’Anna di Stazzema. Spike Lee’s movie, “Miracle at St. Anna” depicted the story of Sant’Anna di Stazzema’s mass murders as a response of a traitor. A resistance fighter betrayed the town of Sant’Anna di Stazzema.

This betrayer turned coat and worked with the Nazis. The movie’s version of Sant’Anna di Stazzema has angered survivors of partisans. Spike Lee claimed that the partisans were hurting because they could not deal with the issue.
