By Clarencia Cynrae on December 20th, 2008Sandy Shaw was 15 when she lured James Cotton Kelly, 21, into the desert in 1986. James Kelly was robbed and then shot dead. Sandy Shaw bragged about this crime to her friends. It was like a “Show and Tell” session for Sandy Shaw. Shaw showed them the corpse of James Kelly.
William Merritt, then 17, and Troy Kell, then 18, were accomplices of Sandy Shaw. William “Bill” Merritt served 12 years for his role in killing James Kelly. Troy Kell was serving his sentence when he murdered an inmate. Kell was sentenced to death row for the murder of Lonnie Blackmon.
Sandy Shaw served about 21 years in prison. Shaw applied for a parole hearing and succeeded in getting it. Sandy Shaw has been on parole since around May 2008. During a TV interview in May 2008, Shaw said she was in the search mode; searching for a new job and a new beginning in life.
