Sandra Dee: should Sandra Dee Buford get parole?
By Clarencia Cynrae on September 8th, 2008Sandra Dee Buford and a few people attacked Martha Berg, 69, in Nov. 1993 in a car park in Bon Air Center in Greenbrae.
Sandra Dee Buford and the group stole Martha Berg’s jewelry, credit cards. They tied and locked Martha Berg in her car trunk and drove her around for 12 hours while they went on a spending spree with their loot. The kidnappers abandoned Berg in her trunk but left it open. The car was abandoned in Oakland. Martha Berg freed herself, drove to the nearest gas station and called police.
Three days later, police “rescued” Sandra Dee Buford, who claimed that she was kidnapped. The following day, a 17 year old female surrendered to police and confessed her crime. She told police Sandra Dee Buford staged her own kidnapping to have an excuse to get out of the case of robbing Martha Berg. Sandra Dee Buford was convicted, and sentenced to life imprisonment with possibility of parole in 6-7 years’ time. Francisco Cruz Sarinana, 22, was also convicted in the same case. The 17 year old wa stried as a juvenile. The prosecutors and Twin Cities police oppose Buford’s release. Martha Berg has died but her family said they oppose Buford’s release.
