Saad Khan: Reality show contestant Saad Khan drowned
By Clarencia Cynrae on August 30th, 2009Saad Khan, 32, has died. Saad Khan was a contestant in a reality TV show filmed by a Pakistan company. Khan drowned while competing in an event for the reality show. This show was sponsored by Unilever Pakistan.
Saad Khan was swimming across a lake in Bangkok, Thailand. Khan carried a backpack weighing 15 pounds (7 kg). Khan got into difficulties and cried for help. Khan then disappeared underwater before help could reach him. The crew and other contestants jumped into the water but failed to locate Khan. Divers found Khan’s dead body.
Saad Khan died on August 19. The show’s producers kept the news of Khan’s death a secret until his body was flown back to Karachi, Pakistan.
Unilever Pakistan is not officially obliged to accept responsibility for Saad Khan’s death. However, Unilever said they have volunteered to provide for Khan’s survivors in his immediate family. Saad Khan left behind his wife and 4 children.
Police are investigating the death of Saad Khan.
The backpack would have weighed heavier in water as water soaked in and gave it additional weight. Had the crew tested out swimming with 15-pound backpack before they asked Saad Khan to perform this task? Was Khan’s drowning an accident or caused by negligence? Is this case a homicide? Who caused the death of Khan?
Saad Khan, RIP.
